Appendices

Although an appendix is not an essential part of every paper the possibilities and uses of the device are manifold. Some kinds of material properly regulated to an appendix are explanations and elaborations not essential parts of the text but helpful to a reader seeking further clarification; texts of documents, laws, etc.; long lists; survey questionnaires, sometimes even charts or tables. The appendix is placed before the notes, glossary, bibliography and index(es).

Complicated tabular material, lists, and other entities that are no part of the text should be put in the appendix at the back, not in the footnotes.
